Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA)

Table of Contents

CCEA is an assessing authority for the skilled migration of chiropractors to Australia or New Zealand.

The Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA) serves as an independent accrediting authority for chiropractic education, operating under Australia’s National Registration and Accreditation Scheme and New Zealand’s Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003. Additionally, the CCEA plays a crucial role as the assessing authority for chiropractors aspiring to migrate to Australia or New Zealand under their respective skilled migration programs. The accreditation function is mandated by the Chiropractic Board of Australia and the New Zealand Chiropractic Board.

Skills Assessment for Migration

In both Australia and New Zealand, the Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA) acts as the designated assessing authority for chiropractors under the General Skilled Migration programs. The Minister for Home Affairs in Australia has specified CCEA as the gazetted assessing authority, and the Department of Education supports this role. CCEA is also the assessing authority for Immigration New Zealand.

  1. CCEA sends an official Assessment Letter, a crucial document for migration applications, which candidates must include when applying to the Department of Home Affairs or Immigration New Zealand.
  2. Successful completion of the CCEA qualification and skills assessment process does not guarantee automatic migration, registration, employment, or professional membership. Additional requirements may be imposed by the Department of Home Affairs or Immigration New Zealand.

Registration in Australia or New Zealand

In compliance with the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 (Australia) and the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (New Zealand), CCEA evaluates knowledge, clinical skills, and professional attributes for overseas qualified chiropractors seeking registration with the Chiropractic Board of Australia or the New Zealand Chiropractic Board.

  1. CCEA provides an official Assessment Letter and Certificate of Attainment for registration applications, to be submitted to the relevant Chiropractic Board.
  2. Successful completion of the CCEA qualification and skills assessment process does not guarantee automatic registration. Additional requirements may be set by the Chiropractic Board of Australia or the New Zealand Chiropractic Board.

Application Process

To apply for a chiropractic skills assessment, candidates should review the skills assessment requirements and applicant resources on the CCEA website. Application forms, fees, and necessary documentation details are available on the website as well.

  1. The application form can be submitted electronically to CCEA, and academic transcripts and letters of good standing should be emailed directly to the CCEA Skills Assessment Team. In case institutions don't provide electronic copies, hard copies can be mailed to CCEA at GPO Box 622, Canberra, ACT, 2601, Australia.

Note: The completion of the skills assessment process does not guarantee migration, registration, or employment, and additional requirements may apply. Candidates are advised to stay informed about necessary regulations and consult relevant authorities.
